5 Money Moves to Build Better Money Habits and Finish the Year Strong

Ok, let me know if this is you...

1) You had plans for your money this year and you probably set some big goals back in January.

2) You told yourself "This is my year to get it together" and you even made a list or two to follow.

3) As you move further into the year, you realize that you haven't made much progress on those goals and those thoughts of falling behind have started to creep in.

If this is you, let me first say, BREATHE. Because you are not behind and you are not a failure. And as a matter of fact you still have time to Reset, Refocus, and Finish Strong.

Consider this your Mid-Year Wake-Up Call and this is the kind that feels like a slight nudge, NOT a slap in the face!

So, let's get into these 5 Money Moves that you can make right now to get back in alignment and feel proud of how you close out the year!

  1. Revisit (and Revise) Your Money Goals

Hear me when I say this...the goals that you set back in January DON'T HAVE TO STAY glued to your vision board if they NO LONGER SERVE YOU or fit the season that you're in. The reality is that life changes. Energy shifts. And your finances might look totally different now than they did six months ago.

So, give yourself a moment and ask: "What do I actually want for the rest of this year?" Not "What Should I Want?," or "What Did I Say I Was Gonna Do?"...but what still feels real, relevant, and important to YOU?

  • Your Action Move: Write down 1-3 financial goals that feel doable between now and December. Then figure out the first tiny step you can take toward each one this week. That's it because TINY steps lead to BIG impact.

  1. Check Where Your Money's Actually Going

Let's be real: If you've ever said "I don't really know where my money is going," you're not alone. But here's the thing, what you don't track, you can't change. Which means you can't create new results with old habits.

So, this is the perfect time to pause and do a quick audit of your spending. No shame. No guilt. Just data. Because this is about paying attention, NOT punishing yourself.

  • Your Action Move: Look back at the last 30-60 days. Think about any patterns that showed up in your actions. Think about what felt worth it, and what didn't. This is how you start moving different with awareness and intention.

  1. Reset With A No-Spend of Expense Detox Challenge

Sometimes your money just needs a moment to breathe. A no-spend or expense detox isn't about being extreme, it's about giving yourself space to reset and realign. Think of it as a cleanse for your wallet. Keep in mind that you don't need to go months without spending. Because even one intentional week can help you get clear on what you actually value and what you're ready to let go of.

  • Your Action Move: Choose a no-spend period that fits your life so this could be a week, two weeks, or a full month. Choose whichever period works for you and commit to cutting out Non-Essentials during that time.

  1. Automate One New Money Habit

Let me be clear: consistency > perfection every single time. You don't need to do everything all at one. But if you can automate one thing, whether it's your savings, your debt payments, or even transferring $10 a week into an emergency fund, you're going to start building momentum and that is a powerful move towards accomplishing your goals.

Listen, Automation is a cheat code for discipline, so let it work for you!
  • Your Action Move: Set up one recurring transfer or payment this week. Then consistently check in with your progress on this transfer. Keep in mind that your goal is progress, not perfection.

  1. Get in Community, Don't Go It Alone

Are you trying to change your money habits in isolation? That could be a recipe for burnout. To be successful, I'm telling you, You need support. You need reminders. You need people who get it and won't judge you for not having it all figured out. That's why I created the Free Coin-Conscious Accountability Group because we don't do this work alone. We check in. • Your Action Move: Don't do this work alone. Get with people who are also working toward something better. It may sound cliché but when you are trying to change a habit, there really is strength in numbers and community.
